A Love Story Born on Set: Recalling Mann and Apatow’s First Meeting

Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow’s connection traces back to Mann’s audition in “The Cable Guy” (1996), a film produced by Judd Apatow and starring Jim Carrey.

During her audition, Apatow read the lines for Jim Carrey’s character, which marked the beginning of their personal and professional relationship.

“There goes the future Mrs. Apatow. I had a soul connection instantly. I meant it. That’s why I remember it,” Apatow told ELLE.

“I remember when we shot The Cable Guy she kissed Matthew Broderick, and then when they parted I saw in the dailies there was like a spit string that connected them for like a foot,” Apatow told Alec Baldwin on his WNYC Podcast, Here’s the Thing.
