Stylish TV personality Olivia Palermo surely did not miss a day of runway fashion for the past couple of days. She has been spotted attending the two biggest fashion events to hit this time of year – the FW2010-11 Paris Fashion Week and the SS2011 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. And as expected, Olivia always had on something unexpected to go with each of her looks.

At the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, she appeared in a dressed down but chic manner by going for a simple ensemble which consisted of a blouse, a skirt, and flats. Before you’re going to react to this outfit, allow me to highlight that it wasn’t just any skirt she had on; it was a dressy piece of dark blue fringe skirt that looked extremely exquisite.

Don’t you just love the way she surprises us with her interesting outfit concoctions? I like how she dressed down the fringe skirt with a pair of flats. I also like how she used a scarf on her waist to tie the whole outfit together. Amazing.

So let’s learn from Olivia here. Even though a fringe skirt is a dressy piece of clothing, you can actually dress it down and make it look less glam with a pair of flats. Hey, perhaps you can even wear it with flat sandals!

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to recreate this look without breaking the bank. Fringe skirts are quite hard to find, more because not many women would have the guts to wear it (hence not many retailers would stock up on it). But I did find one – the Type Z Babs Skirt:

Type Z Babs Skirt, on sale for $83

With the Type Z Babs Skirt, put the following on and you’re as good as looking like stylish Olivia:

Piko Scoop Neck Tank, $20; Carolee Retro Charm Necklace, on sale for $67; The Sak Mimosa Bag, $98; Lucky Brand Gypsy Thieves Square Scarf, $35; AK Anne Klein Innocent Flats, on sale for $27
